Information about Viruses from Steel Dragon Computers, Mesa, AZ
Have you seen the commercials, the advertisements with solutions to “slowing computers”? Perhaps that made you look at your own computer. You’ve had it for a couple years now, and when it was brand new it was snappy, and worked exactly how you wanted. But now that it’s aged, it doesn’t seem quite the same. While there are various causes for slowing computers, one that you’ve heard of is Viruses.
Viruses and Other Infections
Viruses, Trojans, Worms, Spyware and other malware is often a side-effect of using our computers, and even if a computer is never infected with these, someone somewhere is trying to change that. But what do I do if my computer is already infected? How can I tell if it is or not? You might have seen these advertisements on the internet, warning that it has detected viruses on your computer, and they happen to have the solution. In reality, all they want is your money.
Malware Bytes
One great tool among and handful of good and many poor ones for scanning your computer for these kinds of malware is called MalwareBytes. You can download the free version to scan your computer from their site at http://www.malwarebytes.org/. One thing to note is that this is a scanning solution. This means this program does not actively protect your computer and can only find and solve malware issues when you run the program and start a scan.
The only real difference between the free version and one you buy is the ability to schedule scans. So if you find that to be a useful feature to use on the computers you have and find it to be the solution to your malware needs, feel free to support its developers and purchase a license.
